[ applause ] and like nira, i take this personally. i m only here because this country educated my grandfather on the g.i. bill. when my father left and my mom hit hard times trying to raise my sister and me going to school, this country helped make sure we didn t go hungry. when michelle, the daughter of a shift worker at a water plant and a secretary, wanted to go to college just like me, this country helped us afford it until we could pay it back. so it drives me as a grandson, a son, a father, as an american, to make sure that every striving,heart hard-working, optimistic kid in america has the same incredible chance that this country gave me. to say about paying for a college education. when michele, the daughter of a shift worker at a water plant and a secretary wanted to go to college, just like me, this country helped us afford it. until we could pay it back. so what drives me is a grandson, a son, a father, as an american is to make sure that every striving, hard-working optimistic kid in america has the same incredible chance that this country gave me. and many will probably remember that the president and the first lady have been very open about it took so many years to pay off those loans, there s 40 years old before finally paying off the loans. let s talk to jim acosta with more on the president s message about affording education, the disparity of economics in this corrupt, et cetera, et cetera.

because i cannot afford to lose good workers. plus, i don t want to serve you flu with your food. dave: and, randy, would this hurt working moms? and is this a public health issue? guest: well, the bottom line, a shift worker, they can shift their work. if someone does call in sick, someone else takes care of them. the thing about having run a restaurant i know what it is like when a worker is sick. and, the thing that makes a good place to work is when that employee has more control. when they can say, i have to call in sick but can joe cover the shift and i will cover joe next week. we have to allow the flexibility in the work police. we did not want sick workers at work but we have to allow the flexibility for an employer to keep his employee. and, i would rather see the group offer incentives like starting an employee fund from a percent of profits to help pay
