Graduation rates at Tigard and Tualatin high schools dip slightly, while Sherwood sees a small increase.
While graduation rates at Tigard and Tualatin high schools dipped slightly, Sherwood saw a small increase in students who graduated in four years, according to recently released statistics by the Oregon Department of Education.
Those cohort graduation rates follow students who began high school four years earlier. Students who graduated on time in 2019-20 began high school in the 2016-17 school year.
In Sherwood, the 2019-20 adjusted cohort four-year graduation rate for all students was almost neck and neck with 2018-19 rates at 97.62%, compared to 97.54% the previous year. The rate for 2017-18 was 97.42%.
Sherwood teacher charged with child sex abuse in Portland January 05 2021
Brian Trostel was placed on administrative leave prior to arrest on numerous charges for abuse that allegedly occurred in Portland.
A teacher at Sherwood High School has been arrested on 29 charges relating to the sexual abuse of a child, according to court documents.
Brian David Trostel, who lived in Portland and taught at Sherwood High until recently, turned himself in to Portland Police Bureau officers on Jan. 4, according to a news release.
Trostel, 60, faces a 29-count indictment, with the charges including two counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, eight counts each of first- and second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, as well as eight counts of first-degree invasion of privacy and three counts of invasion of personal privacy in the second degree.

PORTLAND, Ore. A longtime teacher at Sherwood High School was arrested Monday after a 29-count grand jury indictment for child sexual abuse charges.
Brian David Trostel, 60, turned himself in following the indictment, Portland Police said.
Trostel was hired as a teacher at Sherwood High School in August 1995, and was placed on administrative leave in December when the Sherwood School District gained knowledge of the Portland Police Department s investigation, the district said in a statement.
