Therapy services from MercyHealth and Stateline Mental Health have been available at Milton School District for past two years, and have provided support for around 60 students in the district.
MILTON
Even before the pandemic, the Milton School District office got calls from residents asking how they could help families in need.
âMilton is a small town, but this community has big hearts,â said 4K-6 social worker Sherry Rautenberg.
Last week, district officials announced an app that will help people see ways they can help.
âThe Purposity app is a way for us to confidentially post needs on behalf of students and families and for the community to respond to those specific needs,â Rautenberg said.
The app is available through the App Store and Google Play. Once it is installed on a smartphone, residents can follow âSchool District of Miltonâ to see where help is needed.

The School District of Milton is blessed with a generous and supportive community where community members and local businesses often reach out to ask how they can help students in need during hard times. Thanks to the efforts of district social workers Verlene Orr and Sherry Rautenberg, the district now has an app for that!
Called “Purposity,” the app launched on April 9 for the School District of Milton and is available through the App Store and Google Play. Purposity makes sure that families with legitimate needs are connected with those who want to help quickly and confidentially.
For example, if a Red Hawk student had worn through her shoes and her family cannot afford to provide her new sneakers for school, our district social workers can make the community aware of this simple need through the app. A participating community member can ‘claim” the request and drop off the sneakers to the school social worker.
