Medicine and Music In collaboration with UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and West HealthWell, join Dr. Sorbarikor Piawah of UCSF and musician Mr. Alvon Johnson at the “Rise Up 2 Fight Cancer! Medicine and Music”, an event to learn about the importance of Colorectal Cancer screenings and listen to the soothing sounds of soul music. This free virtual event is Wednesday, April 28, from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm PT via zoom. The shocking passage of Chadwick Boseman, known for his trailblazing role as King T’Challa in Marvel’s Black Panther, to Colorectal Cancer prompted Tina Werblin to organize a free event to provide vital Colorectal Cancer (or Colon cancer) awareness to the African-American community and have some entertainment with local blues musician Alvon Johnson. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in Black men and women. African-Americans have the highest rates of colorectal cancer in the US according to Cancer.org. T
