Residents will be seeing lots of red bows, lights, shirts, decorations and more around the
area starting March 1st and continuing until March 7th, as part of the Operation Wear Red Campaign organized by the Julia’s Wings Foundation to raise awareness of aplastic anemia, a rare bone marrow failure disease that affects just one in 250,000 people each year. While the disease can affect anyone at any age, it is most common in children and young adults. The campaign, now in its 7th year, is held in honor of local resident Julia Malsin and seeks to educate the general public about the disease and how they can help children and families affected by it. Connecticut saw more than a foot of snow in some areas overnight Wednesday into Thursday as a norâeaster slammed the region.
Gov. Ned Lamont said Thursday morning, depending on what part of the state you live in, about 8 to 14 inches fell across Connecticut.
By noon the snow had ended across Connecticut.
Connecticut officials have asked residents to remain off the roads as crews continue to work on clearing the snow that has fallen and is being blown around by gusty winds.

UPDATE 6:17 P.M.
Westport Superintendent Thomas Scarice announced schools would operate in a remote model on Friday as clearing efforts continued throughout town. He said school officials have been informed that refreezing of town roads and parking lot surfaces may lead to unsafe conditions in the morning.
