Movement of the armies to cover a lot of ground. There are several bottles only way. By the time the armies battles on the way. By the time the army gets to appomattox they have been in constant contact. When they arrived at the courthouse, there is a final battle on the day of the surrender because nobody knew there would be a surrender that day on the morning of april. April 9. Here we have sailors creek, the largest battle of the campaign with eight thousand confederate 8000 confederate soldiers captured on one day. As the army of Northern Virginia drifts into the courthouse, the Union Cavalry under general custer has gotten in front of the Confederate Army, blocking the road they intend to use. Print parole passes for the confederates. This is the pattern that they use, it is called a check pattern, i think you can see why. They are important for a few other things as well. General grant indicated that they could be used for transportation on Union Military railroads and ships. For a lot of the men who lived near working railroads or can get home by ship, the Union Military will transport them. A lot of the men who lived in the deep south went to norfolk on ships, and got home that way. The parole passes will be important for a lot of reasons. They allow the soldiers to get food, they can stop at union supply bases and draw rations. Over the next three days the surrender is put in motion. The first branch that will surrender is the cavalry on april 10.
