ELLSWORTH — The mother of a Bucksport man who hung himself in a Hancock County Jail cell two years ago this month has filed a civil rights suit against Hancock
Maine State Police spokesperson Shannon Moss said the person believed to be the deceased does not have any biological relatives nearby, which has hindered the identification.
Residents spoke to the sheriff and board members about a lack of crime reporting in the town, saying that people do not always report crimes to the sheriff’s department, which prevents the department from investigating the issue.
