People in the city of Marlin had hoped to put the political drama behind them more than two years ago when voters sent a new administrative team to city hall.
Joe Lopez wins race for Falls County Sheriff
The Falls County Elections office confirmed Lopez defeated Ricky Scaman by a little less than 1,000 votes.

FALLS COUNTY, Texas Joe Lopez defeated incumbent Sheriff Ricky Scaman in the race for Falls County Sheriff, the Falls County elections office confirmed Tuesday night.
Lopez took 3,267 votes compared to 2,314 for Scaman.
Lopez has been in law enforcement since 1984. He was born and raised in Marlin.
Falls County Commissioners passed a resolution in September to hand over control of the sheriff s office from Scaman to his chief deputy. The move was in response to the charges Scaman faces, including sexual assault and assault on a public servant.
