Connor Dempsey leaped over the barricades and attempted to approach the Irishman last October. The drunk 23-year-old was stopped by officers and arrested. He pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to conducting himself in a disorderly manner and committing a breach of the peace. Lawyer Gerry Devanney told Sheriff Patricia Pryce that Dempsey was unable to attend court to be sentenced as he is in hospital. The sheriff asked Mr Devanney if Dempsey, of the city’s Govan, would be able to do unpaid work. He replied: “He can’t as he can’t walk at the moment and at some point, that matter has to be addressed as well.”
