At least one Greenville County Sheriff s Office deputy was involved in a shooting that killed a man on Gibson Oaks Drive in Greer just after 5 p.m. Thursday, according to Sheriff Hobart Lewis.
Lewis said deputies were OK, and he said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Deputies were trying to serve a warrant on a man for criminal sexual conduct, and they identified him and tried to make an arrest, Lewis said. The sheriff said the man had a firearm and a shooting took place. The man was taken to Greenville Memorial where he died, Lewis said.
