Whatcom County Executive Satpal Sidhu along with the Fire Marhsal and Sheriff Bill Elfo have issued a statement urging the public to refrain from lighting fireworks this holiday weekend.
Very dry conditions and continued high temperatures due to the recent West Coast heatwave are a severe concern going into July 4th.
It is being recommended all citizens avoid personal fireworks displays, and kept to as short a time as possible.
Residents are encouraged to call 9-1-1 only in case of life-threatening emergencies, including evidence of wildfire.
For all other complaints and to report illegal fireworks, call the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Non-Emergency number.
