More than 2000 patrons enjoyed the sunny conditions to end the Labour Day weekend with a host of free carnival rides. Thanks to the support of the CFMEU, the club rolled out the giant slide, jumping castle, rock climbing wall all free for the community to enjoy. It has been supported by CFMEU Mining and Energy for 14 years and always draws a crowd with the nine-card meeting offering up lots of trackside entertainment.
Stuart Kendrick is at a loss to explain how apprentice Sheriden Tomlinson seems the only rider capable of getting Star Of Michelin to put his mind on the job early in a race.
Tomlinson won his second race in three starts when Star Of Michelin stuck his head out late to defy the grinding finish of Penshurst in the Class 6 Handicap.
At Tomlinson’s two previous rides on the horse, Star Of Michelin also settled handier to the speed. But away from Tomlinson, the son of Jet Spur just hasn’t been interested in playing any early part in his races.
