Syracuse, N.Y. The developer of a proposed 635-bed student-housing project near Syracuse University that critics say is too big and out of character with the neighborhood has withdrawn its plans but says it will file new ones soon.
In a letter to the Syracuse Zoning Board of Appeals, an attorney for Landmark Properties said the company was withdrawing its request for area variances “at this time.”

Syracuse, N.Y. The owner of an apartment building near Temple Concord is fighting a proposed 635-bed student housing project on the temple’s property near Syracuse University.
Sherbk Inc., owner of Sherbrooke Apartments at 922 Madison St., has asked the Syracuse Board of Zoning Appeals to deny a request from Syracuse Landmark Property Owner LLC for zoning variances for the project, which would be known as The Standard at Syracuse.
