Rain inundates Lahore roads, animal markets July 21, 2021 LAHORE: The City received around 99mm rain here Tuesday inundating all major roads, greenbelts, open places and temporarily established markets for the sale of sacrificial animals. The rain started early Tuesday and continued till noon. It damaged the temporarily established sale points of sacrificial animals due to which a large number of sellers thronged City roads with their animals. Mostly every greenbelt or open plot in various localities was flooded with sacrificial animals. As per the data released by Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), the highest rain of 99mm was recorded at Farrukhabad and lowest was recorded at 40.6mm on Jail Road. The data showed that 97mm rain was recorded at Pani Wala Talab and Nishtar Town each, 86.3mm rain at Lakshmi Chowk, 86mm at Johar Town, 73mm at Samanabad, 68mm at Gulshan-e-Ravi, 80mm each at Chowk Nakhuda and Punjab University, 59mm at Tajpura, 58mm at Iqbal Town, 53mm at Upper Mal

PM to perform groundbreaking of three projects on 12th - Newspaper

LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to perform groundbreaking of three major projects in the provincial metropolis on July 12 (Monday). Two projects Sheranwala Gate flyover and rainwater harvesting/management – are being constructed in the constituency of PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz. The third project is Shahkam Chowk overhead bridge. Official sources term the PM’s visit very important in terms of the PTI’s focus on the infrastructure development projects in Lahore, known as the stronghold of the PML-N. “The PM was scheduled to perform groundbreaking of the three projects this week. The date was confirmed twice and then cancelled. Now the final date conveyed to the Punjab government is July 12 (Monday),” a senior official told Dawn.

LAHORE: The commissioner on Tuesday imposed section 5 of the Land Acquisition Act of 1894 to acquire over 62 kanals required for the construction of Shahkam Chowk Flyover. After the imposition of section 4, section 5 is the second step of the land acquisition process under which a notification is issued stating that particular land is needed for a public purpose or for a company. The next steps required to be taken under the act for any particular piece of land for any project of public interest include sections 5-A for hearing of objections and section 6 to 17 on the declaration of the required land, issuing orders for acquisition, marking and measuring of the land, issuing notices to the persons interested, conducting inquiries, announcing the award of land, taking possession, etc.

Signal-free Maulana Shaukat Ali Road project gets govt nod - Newspaper

LAHORE: The government has approved a Rs7bn project to make the Maulana Shaukat Ali Road signal free, connecting the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train (Multan Road) with the Metro Bus (Green Line) on the Ferozepur Road. The proposal of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) claims that the project would not only reduce the travel time from Kharak Stop (Multan Road) to Qainchi (Ferozepur Road) from 45 minutes to 15 minutes but it would also improve the environment in the localities along the road. “The proposal to make the road a signal-free corridor has been approved recently. Soon it will materialise through the PC-1, bidding and launch of this mega project,” said LDA Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain Asif. He added the project would cover about a 15km long major artery of Lahore.
