John Ashby Carpenter, 63, of Shenandoah Junction, passed away peacefully at University Healthcare-WVU Medicine-East-Berkeley Medical Center Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 with his family by his side. John died as a result of complications related to COVID-19.
He was born March 12, 1957 in Martinsburg, to the late Ralph and Betty Carpenter.
John was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1975. He also received an associate degree from Blue Ridge Community and Technical College in 2009.
John had many jobs throughout his lifetime. His early employment was with Halltown Paperboard and then with Dixie Narco until it closed. His final move was to the Jefferson County, WV School System. John worked different jobs during his years. He started as a custodian at Shepherdstown Junior High School and ended with the maintenance department as a carpenter.
