PETS OF THE WEEK
Barley (tag 47569888): I am a male senior dog at 8 years-old, although that age is only an estimate. When you meet me, you will probably conclude that I am much younger, at least based upon my energy level. I m friendly and active. I m very excited to meet new people, but I will sit for treats. I love to go outside for a walk, and that is when I calm down. I will walk well with you, and I love exploring all of the tantalizing smells outside. I m a tan and white retriever mix and weigh about 48 pounds. I was found as a stray and I was pretty skinny then. I m filling out now with a regular diet and I m ready to be your companion.
Pets of the Week: Meet Titan and Sangha
The Gaston Gazette
Titan (tag 46612140): I m a very friendly 2-year-old male terrier mix who loves people. I m the perfect size at 49 pounds. I have a lot of energy but I do know how to calm down and wait patiently for a treat. With a little patience, you can teach me to walk well on the leash. Since I m cooped up in a kennel most of the day here at the shelter, I m naturally excited to get to go outdoors. I hope I can find a family to keep me busy and take me on adventures.
Shelter Pets to Go! trying to find home for Pebbles
From Staff Reports
Pebbles (tag 45568389): I am a female 5 year old terrier/pit mix who weighs about 43 pounds. I m a very sweet girl who loves everyone. Since I m an adult dog and have learned my manners, I will not be jumping or tugging on the leash when we go for a walk. I would love to be the center of your attention. I m gentle and love to snuggle. Outside, I will be smelling everything, and using the facilities as a good dog should. I m tan and white and my ears will be up trying to figure out what you want me to do, so I can please you. I will be a great companion for you, I promise.

NORFOLK, Va. - Outside the Norfolk Animal Care Center s new Cat Colony room there s a plaque that reads, lovingly dedicated to the memory of Pam Hyatt.
Hyatt, who passed away in 2019 at 69, was a center volunteer with a special love for cats, especially the cats who came into the shelter. She did a bunch of our adoption counseling on the weekends, said Jessica Guckert, who worked with Hyatt at the Norfolk Animal Care Center. She would be here on Fridays and Saturdays in the middle of the hustle and bustle, like, shipping the cats out the door. She just absolutely loved our cats.
