(Shutterstock) SHELTER ISLAND, NY A pit bull attack on Shelter Island Sunday left a mother and daughter injured, police said. According to Shelter Island Police, the incident took place at 7:42 p.m. when an unleashed pit bull attacked a mother and daughter from Shelter Island who were walking their own small dogs, on leashes, on a town road in the Hay Beach section of town. The 17-year-old girl and her mother were both injured, one seriously, and transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport for treatment, police said.
