ALTAVISTA, Va. â Shelia Hudson was 70 when she was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer. Four years later, both she and her husband contracted COVID-19.
âWhen they first told me that I had lung cancer, the doctor said, âItâs stage 4 and thereâs no cure, but is treatable,ââ said Shelia Hudson, a cancer survivor from Altavista with a soft, kind voice. âThat was hard to take, but Iâve gotten through it really well.â
In 2015, Hudson went in for an endoscopy because she felt like she could be losing blood from somewhere. She had always been anemic and thought it had gotten worse. However, her bloodwork showed that everything was fine.
