Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has expressed strong optimism that the newly appointed service chiefs will succeed in the fight against insurgency and other crimes in the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari recently replaced the former service chiefs to give more bite to the fight against insecurity in the country following increased tension across the land.
However, the Kaduna State governor believes that the new chiefs with their track records will perform and bring insecurity to a halt in the land.
Exchanging views with newsmen after a visit to his Niger State counterpart, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, in Minna on Tuesday evening, El-Rufai said the new service chiefs “are coming in with new vigour so I expect them to succeed”.

Jos, Dec. 25, 2020 The Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed sadness over the demise of Sheikh Ahmed Lemu, who died at the age of 91.
The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong, said this in a condolence message by his Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPA), Dr Makut Macham, in Jos on Friday..
Lalong described the demise of the renowned Minna-based Islamic Scholar as a “great loss” to the nation.
He said the deceased, the first Grand Khadi of Niger, made his mark as a model who fostered religious tolerance, cooperation and peaceful coexistence among people of diverse backgrounds.
I discovered that Sheikh is the Arabic equivalent of Shehu.
Due to youthful exuberance, I felt that if Sheikh is the correct Arabic pronunciation of Shehu, why shouldn’t I change it.
And since then, I started using Sheikh in place of Shehu.
And Sheikh has remained your name till date?
Yes, but I later realized the embarrassment I caused myself.
When I started having contact with Arab scholars in 1969, after the formation of the Islamic Education Trust (IET), I was not comfortable introducing myself as Sheikh each time I met with such scholars at meetings and conferences because sheikh to the Arabs is a title used for the learned or aged and I was neither.
