Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced the $30 billion Ravi River Urban Development Project, which aimed to meet the housing needs of a growing population and also create new jobs by developing 1,00,000 acres of land along 40 km of the riverbank. However, the provincial assembly approved a body to oversee the development work without an environmental impact assessment.
