Hafta Letters: Role of religion, YouTube ads, and a Netflix recommendation
NL subscribers get back with bouquets and brickbats!
Dear Dhobis,
I just renewed my subscription today and instantly regretted it. Your panelâs discussion on âreligion, boon or baneâ was inane and rambling to say the least. Religion is the easiest, fastest way to mobilise mobs and money.
I agree with Hridayesh wholly:
Jai Shri Ram is the new
Allah-o-Akbar.
Thanks,
Hi NL team,
I was expecting a few more reports regarding Delhi riots, and what happened with the young guy who was jailed for walking with a girl. Thereâs a lacuna regarding follow up of cases. Am saying this keeping in mind Nidhi s follow-up report on the Hathras case.
Hello Hafta team,
This was a really informative Hafta. And the guests were great, too. I totally agree with Manisha when she says âwe are this societyâ regarding the âlove jihadâ laws. I am a Muslim and my parents are teachers so pretty educated, but the ideas of âindividualityâ and âfreedomâ donât enter their heads: âreach whatever heights you want to but within the confines of our social construct.â
Except that âlove jihadâ laws are being used to target Muslims, most of our adult people love the idea of policing interfaith love stories, many of them might be happy that youngsters would be scared to pursue interfaith love because of the laws.
Hello NL team,
Iâm quite baffled at Abhinandanâs suggestion to everyone of you to take vitamins. It is foolish to say the least. Vitamins are not going to help you prevent or cure Covid.
You need not take supplements unless thereâs a deficiency or the chance that you will get adequate amounts from your diet is very low.
Iâm a doctor, Iâve been in Covid wards and I agree vitamin C might have been used for positive patients, but nowhere was this mass intake advised for people in contact.
I saw a tweet from the NIA that Stan Swamyâs appeal to an NIA court for a sipper is malicious and the matter was between him and the Maharashtra Prisons department. I would like an explanation on that. Keep doing your great work. I absolutely love how Abhinandan leaves no chance to remind everyone how important subscriber-based journalism is.
