president trump: he is a liar. not only on this stuff. he has been leaking for years. he has probably been using his friend, the so-called professor who turns out to be f.b.i. clearance which he never said. he lied about that. he never said that in congress. he said he gave it to a friend. he gave it to a friend to leak classified information. rick: president trump sounding off this morning responding to new details about former f.b.i. director james comey after comey went on defense about the leaking of memos he wrote about conversations he had in the oval office. let s bring in our panel former advisor to president bill clinton doug shown and kris wilson a former ted cruz campaign pollster. thank you for being here. jim comey last night said that he didn t leak, he gave the memo to a friend to give to the press. isn t that the same thing? i would think so. i mean, i have to tell you as a
memos and something that says no foreign. does that tell you that comey then did lie when he said that he didn t leak classified information? yes. the redactions are classified information. so every time you see a black mark, you know that. we know there s seven memos. mr. comey s own lawyer that leaked them gave a number that indicates that just by the math he would have had to have leaked one of them with the classified information. so you know, he said he didn t. it looks pretty clear that he did. melissa: so he laid in senate testimony then. yeah, it looks like there s a lot of misleading things. these the irony of the james comey memos is that they seem to do the most harm to james comey s reputation. you know, the stuff about i m not a weasel, i m not sneaky. he was sneaky, right? the other the larger thing is when you read the memos and you
you say james comey is a liar. how so? because he said that he didn t leak. he said this he said he didn t and he did. he said it s true, that he admitted to giving those memos he did that before the memos had come out, saying he had never been an anonymous source. he did admit that he gave the memos to a friend who then leaked it. his explanation tonight is whether you accept this as sufficient, he said that there were all these news cameras at the end of my driveway, and therefore i had to leak it out via a friend whirngs he was on the hill he didn t say hey, i packaged everything up and gave it to my friend from columbia and said let s go ahead and leak it to everything. this is all part of a talk narrative, a talking point because the president of the united states, most people think about the fbi that. don t know every director. he knows christopher wray maybe. this is part of a effort to discredit the fbi and the doj as part of a larger campaign that if the ul
democrats would be screaming for full accountability, immediate testimony on capitol hill. sean: do you get the sense that this wass organ needed sabotage of either a cabinet to akkad and connect candidate or president-elect and that will come on the other side to get more detail? speak of the fact that she initially denied and then in her response today to andrea mitchell gave a double negative and she didn t leak nothing to nobody. shehe went to harvard and knows that that s a double negative so that s the affirmative. i m nitpicking here we have to parse your words really carefully. sean: she did admit the unmasking of michael flynn, but she said it was not for political purposes. and that she did not it either. sean: somebody did. and that s a felony. more with l laura ingraham and e continue our investigation here. later tonight, let s look at the media, that destroyed trump media doing everything in theire power to put theirmp liberal or does not cover it at all.
pivotal moments with the president and other members of the administration and is already warning, quote, heads will be exploding all over washington once the book comes out. fox news national security analyst k.t. mcfarland joining us, thank you for coming in. new york times got their hands on a copy of this and had a couple of nuggets that are included in this memoir but in national security circles what s the buzz? here s the thing. this is the one memoir everybody has been waiting for because he never talks. he didn t give interviews to reporters, he didn t leak things to chroniclers, he didn t give a lot of speeches, didn t do a lot of media, so he s the guy. and he s the guy who really has no the last 30 years of american foreign policy been at the center of everything, watergate, the ford administration, the first iraq war, the second iraq war, all the bush crises, both bush crises, so he s the guy everybody wants to read, and apparently, he he doesn t hold my holds, he
