Shawnee Township police warn of police impersonation scam
SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP Two Shawnee Township residents have recently received scam calls from a person claiming to be a sergeant with the Allen County Sheriff’s office, the Shawnee Township Police Department warned on Wednesday. The caller reportedly pressured the victims into purchasing money cards to avoid arrest, taking $1,800 from one victim and $500 from another.
Law enforcement will not contact residents via phone for active warrants, nor will law enforcement ask anyone to post bond by purchasing money cards, police said in a press release.
Anyone with additional information about the scam should call the Shawnee Township Police at 419-227-1115.
