Gennifer Disney put her children on a COVID-19 vaccine waiting list a month and a half ago, but her children 13 and 14 years old never got the call to get their shots.
Thanks to a vaccine clinic at the Oakland Community Center, Disney’s children will both be vaccinated in time for school.
“They have been wanting to get it done,” she said. “I have been wanting to get it done for quite a while.
Disney is already vaccinated, but her children weren’t eligible for the vaccine when she scheduled her appointment.
The vaccine clinic the Disneys attended was a community clinic put on by Keri Strahler, CEO of Shawnee County Mercy Advocates, with help from the Shawnee County Health Department. The health department launched a vaccine clinic request form July 12 and received nine requests for community clinics so far.
