Missouri State University’s Tent Theatre will have a new structure to call home starting with their 2022 productions after a major announcement Thursday from Missouri State.
The University announced the construction of the John Goodman Amphitheatre, which will be home for Tent Theatre, inside the new Judith Enyeart Reynolds Arts Park.
“This new arts park and permanent amphitheatre are much welcome additions to our historic Tent Theatre,” Missouri State President Clif Smart said in a statement. “Our campus and larger community will have a vibrant and comfortable space to enjoy not only Tent Theatre and other productions, but also many special events for years to come.”

Missouri State University (MSU) in the US has started construction on a new amphitheatre and Arts park in the new Judith Enyeart Reynolds Arts Park.
The open-air John Goodman Amphitheatre will have a tension membrane roof, permanent stage and tiers for 350 removable seats.
It will be a 7,700ft² steel structure and is planned to be constructed in the plaza next to Craig Hall, transforming the outdoor area into the Judith Enyeart Reynolds Arts Park.
Tent Theatre’s 60th season will be in John Goodman Amphitheatre summer 2022.
When the curtain rises on the 2022 season of Missouri State University’sTent Theatre, the audience will have an even greater reason to cheer: They’ll be seated in the new John Goodman Amphitheatre in the new Judith Enyeart Reynolds Arts Park.
The university broke ground on the project today (April 8).

Missouri State broke ground Thursday on a project that patrons and performers of Tent Theatre have long dreamt would become a reality.
The university s 60th season of Tent Theatre in summer 2022 will be located in a permanent structure on a part of the Springfield campus dedicated to the arts. Tent Theatre is a front porch to our theater department and to the College of Arts and Letters, said Mark Templeton, managing director of Tent Theatre. It has always been a place where people feel welcome and an intersection where people gather to enjoy theater in a unique setting. People have made this a tradition.
