Lu, Tibbits Named To PING All-Region West Team

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Shawn Lu and Spencer Tibbits were named to the Division I PING All-Region West Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).   Lu posted a scoring average of 71.55 and had a team-best four top-10 finishes this past season. His best finish was a tie for sixth place at the Duck Invitational and his best score was a 6-under 65 in the first round of the Thunderbird Collegiate.  

Beavers Ready For NCAA National Championship

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's golf team is set to compete at the NCAA National Championship, which is scheduled for Friday through Wednesday at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.   Finals play consists of three days of stroke play Friday through Sunday (54 holes), after which the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will be determined. That is followed by a final day of 18 holes of stroke play on Monday to determine the top eight teams that will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion.

A smile came to Bastien Amat’s face when the University of New Mexico freshman was indoors with the media, away from the wind and rain on the UNM Championship Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon. The joy wasn’t about being dry, rather it was about taking a moment to realize that he shot the low round for the day, a personal-best 6-under-par 66 to match Oregon State senior Spencer Tibbits in the second round of the NCAA Regional at the UNM Championship south course. Amat, the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, expressed excitement that he put all of his game together – mostly his putting came through amid challenging conditions on the back nine.

Beavers Advance To NCAA National Championship

May 19, 2021 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Oregon State men s golf team had its best-ever finish at an NCAA Regional and advanced to the NCAA National Championship for the first time in 11 years on Wednesday.   The Beavers finished in a tie for second place at the NCAA Albuquerque Regional after posting a 16-under 281-275-292 848 at the par-72, 7,555-yard UNM Championship Course. Their best previous finish at a regional was fourth place in 2010.   The top five teams at the regional punched their ticket to the NCAA National Championship, which will be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., from Friday, May 28 to Wednesday, June 2. Other teams advancing from the NCAA Albuquerque Regional were Texas Tech (26-under 838), Arizona State (16-under 848), Oklahoma (13-under 851) and San Diego (12-under 852).
