sujhelyi@reviewonline.com EAST LIVERPOOL Almost a year after being placed on paid administrative leave, Shawn Long concluded his commission with the city’s police force. Long, who had worked as a patrolman for the East Liverpool Police Department since March 1997, resigned his commission effective March 30, according to city Safety-Service Director David Dawson. The letter was brief and gave no reason for his resignation. Long did thank “the city and many fine individuals employed by the city” for allowing him to serve. Since April of last year, Long, who was serving as the city’s school resource officer, had been under investigation for inappropriate behavior with an underage person. As of now, no charges have been officially filed by the state of Ohio, which was handling the investigation. No information has been forthcoming.
