Central Magnet School Resource Officer, Local Teacher and Students Participate in Great Race starting Saturday

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Pitching in as an announcer for the vintage car cross country Great Race landed a new role for Sheriff’s School Resource Officer Sgt. Scott Culp assigned to Central Magnet School. Announcer Jason White’s voice gave out during the 2022 race and Culp offered to help. Race Director Jeff Stumb agreed. “Jeff disappears and I was stuck the rest of the night calling in 70 cars by myself,” Culp said as he laughed. White and Culp shared announcing duties .

(Scott Anderson/Patch) TOMS RIVER, NJ While families may be looking forward to 4th of July barbecues, gatherings and fireworks, Independence Day can also be a time of stress and discomfort for some Toms River veterans. Fireworks are usually the primary cause of this stress, especially for veterans who suffer from PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder. PTSD affects about 7 to 8 percent of the general U.S. population, a number that reflects only a small portion of those who have gone through a traumatic experience, according to University of Michigan Health. For combat veterans and first responders, that number grows to 30 percent.
