Alberta No 1 CEO excited for future of Greenview geothermal energy project

Testing confirms geothermal power generation potential south of Grande Prairie

Alberta’s first geothermal energy facility planned in the MD of Greenview is one step closer to reality, after a test conducted on an inactive SECURE ENERGY well south of Grande Prairie has confirmed that the region has the potential to generate geothermal power. No. 1 Geothermal LP, the owner of the project, says a recently completed, detailed temperature log returned a bottom hole temperature of 118 degree Celsius from a depth below 4,000 metres, which exceeds the minimum requirement of 100 degrees Celsius. This means the geothermal plant planned for near the Greenview Industrial Gateway south of Grande Prairie, known as the Alberta No. 1 Geothermal Energy Project, is considered viable.

Anger, disappointment shared with #AlohaAllard sign outside Grande Prairie MLA s office

GRANDE PRAIRIE – Residents are sharing their frustration and disappointment with Grande Prairie MLA and Minister of Municipal Affairs Tracy Allard for her decision to travel to Hawaii over the holidays, despite advisories from both the provincial and federal government to avoid non-essential travel outside the country over the holidays. A new sign reading “Welcome Home #AlohaAllard” was erected in front of Allard’s constituency office along Westside Drive in Grande Prairie some time on Sunday morning. The sign was accompanied by Christmas trees, Hawaiian leis and greeting cards and letters from residents venting their anger about the trip that came even after the province brought in tougher public health measures on December 13 that included a ban on all indoor and outdoor social gatherings.

Municipal Affairs Minister apologizes for Hawaii vacation

Opposition NDP call for resignation of Minister Allard following alleged Hawaii vacation

He adds Allard, who also serves as vice-chair of the Emergency Management Cabinet Committee, should have remained at her post, as the province rolls out the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. “This goes beyond just a member of the Government Caucus or a member of the Government Cabinet Minister Allard is in charge of emergency management. “She has made an unforgivable error and must resign her position immediately.” Earlier Thursday, the Minister of Finance in Ontario Rod Phillips resigned from cabinet there after it was revealed he went to the Caribbean on vacation. CTV News is reporting that Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pat Rehn also took an out-of-country vacation this holiday season, amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
