Bahamians continue to perform well in NCAA athletics Sasha Wells. Bahamian collegiate athletes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (DI) and Division II (DII) levels continue to put on impressive performances as the indoor track and field season winds down. Sasha Wells continued her impressive NCAA DI indoor run for the Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles when she won three individual events at the Washburn Challenge hosted by Washburn University at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kansas, on Friday. Fellow Bahamian and Golden Eagles athlete Bradley Dormeus won two individual events and was a part of the winning relay that day. Both Bahamians were able to break facility records.

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – It was simply another terrific, terrific afternoon indoors at the SPIRE Institute’s Big Ten Invite for the track and field teams from Ohio State University. Eight more wins Saturday enabled the Buckeyes to secure over a third of the wins – 13 wins in 34 events – in an eight-team field that included teams from Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Nebraska, Maryland and Iowa. A recap of the best and the brightest from the Buckeyes: Defending Big Ten indoor champion Adelaide Aquilla is a three-time winner for the Buckeyes so far this winter. The senior lofted the shot put 17.13m/56-2 ½ to win the competition and climb into the Top 5 nationally. The event also featured Sade Olatoye taking third (16.62m/54-6 ½) and Divine Oladipo finishing fourth with a toss of 15.81m/51-10 ½.

BAAA chief Archer happy track is back Drumeco Archer. The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) experienced the official opening of its season this past weekend with the staging of the BAAA Odd Distance Classic, the Neymour Athletics Christmas Odd Distance Classic and the Blue Chip Athletics Throwers Meet. President of the BAAA, Drumeco Archer, was happy to see the meets take place without a hitch. Blue Chip was the first meet on Saturday morning at the old Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium, and the BAAA Odd Distance Meet was held at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium that afternoon. The Neymour Athletics Christmas Odd Distance Classic took place at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex in Freeport, Grand Bahama. Archer lauded the organizers for staging the meets in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, adhering to safety and social distancing protocols.
