“AMBER (America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response) Alerts are emergency messages broadcast when a law enforcement agency determines that a child has been abducted and is in imminent danger. The broadcasts include information about the child and the abductor, including physical descriptions as well as information about the abductor’s vehicle – which could lead to the child’s recovery.”

Duncan, who was a North Dakota State University student, was sentenced to death for the 2005 murder of Dylan Groene, 9, whom Duncan kidnapped along with his sister Shasta Groene, 8, after using a claw hammer to bludgeon to death the children s mother Brenda Groene; her fiance, Mark McKenzie; and her 13-year-old son, Slade Groene, inside their rural Idaho home.

A Coeur d Alene waitress ended the nationwide hunt for Duncan when she recognized Shasta, whose face was on missing fliers around town, at a Denny s in July 2005. Dylan was later found dead at a Montana campsite. Duncan sexually assaulted both children, authorities said.
