The Leaf-Chronicle was supplied the applicants names Thursday after submitting a public records request to Montgomery County Government.
The County Commission will be tasked Monday night with selecting someone from the applicant pool to replace Grimes. The commission meets in monthly formal session at 6 p.m.
Whoever is selected will fill out the remainder of Grimes unexpired term. The next general election for all county judges is to be held in August 2022, according to courthouse officials. The full elected term for a judge is eight years.
Candidates to replace Grimes must meet at least minimum requirements for the position that are specified in state code. They include being at least 30 years old, a Tennessee resident for at least five years, a resident of Montgomery County for at least one year, and a licensed attorney in Tennessee.
