Palatine Township Welcomes New Officials at Swearing-In Ceremony

Updated 5/21/2021 9:37 AM The newly elected Palatine Township Board was sworn into office on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Palatine Township Center. Joining the newly elected board were family, friends, dignitaries as well as the outgoing officials. Incumbent Andy-John G. Kalkounos, who was previously a trustee, was sworn in as the new Township Supervisor. Clerk Lisa Moran will begin her fourth term, while Assessor Terry Kelly will start his fifth term. Aaron B. Del Mar will begin his second term as Highway Commissioner. One sitting trustee, Bill Pohlman, who was first elected in 2013, will begin his third term. Newcomers, A. Christine Svenson, Leslie M. Bolanos, and Michael C. Smolka, will begin their first elected terms in office as trustees.

Palatine Township held its Annual Town Meeting April 13, 2021   Palatine Township held its Annual Town Meeting April 13, 2021. This was the 171st annual meeting even though the Township has been in existence for 172 years. The Township did not hold an annual meeting in 2020 due to the state of Illinois shut down. The Annual Town Meeting is held every year on the second Tuesday in April to conduct Township business. Township residents, participating in their local government, are welcome to meet and speak with their Township Officials.   Attendees were presented with the Supervisor s Annual Financial Report and the Road District Treasurer s Annual Report. The evening also included a poignant In Memoriam presentation dedicated to Andrew Ostrowski, our beloved Township Bus Driver who passed unexpectedly in 2020. Palatine Township supervisor says she was kept off Republican slate Sharon Langlotz-Johnson Updated 12/18/2020 5:32 PM Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson said she was kept off the Republican slate for the April 6 election by Township Highway Commissioner Aaron Del Mar, who is also a Republican committeeman. Langlotz-Johnson, a Republican, said she would have wanted to run for township trustee in April. She always planned to serve only two terms as supervisor and then let someone else take over, she said.   Del Mar, who is running for reelection on the Republican slate, denied exerting any undue influence on the caucus. I am not a dictator and I don t get to decide who runs for anything, he said.
