“Our students have been through a lot,” said Emily Rizzo, a spokeswoman for the mayor. “Why not offer them an engaging experience rather than something they have to do?”
Pawtucket has already vaccinated 650 students between the ages of 16 and 18. The state s goal is for them to vaccinate 1,700 more students in that age group.
High schools across Rhode Island have scheduled vaccination clinics for their students over the age of 16; the first one was Monday at Cranston High School East. Gov. Dan McKee said last week that his administration would work with any high school that wants to host a vaccination clinic for students.
