(FAO), Press Release As it turns out we need more than an apple a day to keep the doctor away. In fact, we need approximately 400 grams of fruits and vegetables daily according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization   April 22 2021, Bridgetown, Barbados  –  Under the theme “Fruits and vegetables, your dietary essentials”, the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables (IYFV) offers the celebration of two food groups that we can all identify with and with which we all have a unique relationship. Its role in how we shape our ideas about the value of fruits and vegetables in our daily lives is important as it creates numerous avenues for us to educate, engage with and think about these food groups in imaginative and colourful ways.

Being a farmer, single parent and teacher is “off the charts” as Patricia Persaud puts it, but she says that being busy brings her balance and consoles her, keeping her from the stress caused by separating with her husband: “I am stress-free, active and financially stable,” she exclaims.
