Mumbai: Since the time Maharashtra government revoked the 30-year-old general consent granted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to exercise its powers and jurisdiction in the state, the agency has been trying roundabout ways to stay both relevant and also not seek the stateâs permission for newly registered cases.
In the past few weeks, the agencyâs Bank Fraud and Security (BF&S) branch has registered at least three FIRs in its Mumbai police station. And just to evade the now absolutely essential state government consent, the Central agency has dispatched the case to its special CBI court in Gujarat â outside Maharashtra limits.
