Granite City officer injured by motorist

EDWARDSVILLE Auto theft and possession of methamphetamine made up most of the felony charges filed Monday by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Marvion D. Gilmore, 27, of Granite City, was charged July 19 with offenses relating to motor vehicles, a Class 2 felony, and resisting arrest causing injury/peace officer and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, both Class 4 felonies.
The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department.
According to court documents, on July 18 Gilmore allegedly was found to be in possession of a stolen 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser. When approached by a Granite City police officer, he allegedly rolled up the window on the officer’s hand, shattering the window and causing lacerations. He also allegedly tried to flee, reaching speeds in excess of 21 miles above the posted speed limit.
