Cempa Community Care Applauds Tennessee Legislature For Protecting 340B Tuesday, May 4, 2021 Cempa Community Care, a Chattanooga-based community health organization, applauds the Tennessee Legislature for passing SB1617/HB1398, a bill that, if signed by Governor Bill Lee, would protect patients and community health groups across the state by safeguarding the integrity of the federal government’s 340B Drug Pricing Program. This program, administered by the Health Resources & Services Administration, “enables covered entities to stretch scarce federal resources as far as possible, reaching more eligible patients and providing more comprehensive services.” Last year, Senator Richard Briggs (R-Knoxville) and Rep. Esther Helton (R-East Ridge) paved the way to advance Section 1 of this bill, but it was designated to summer study for further review. Cempa Community Care Announces Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine Drive-Thru Event Thursday, April 1, 2021 Cempa Community Care, along with Galen Medical Group and the UTC School of Nursing, will offer a drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination event at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, 4801 Hwy. 58, on Saturday, April 10 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.   COVID-19 vaccines are free and available to the public by appointment only. To register and schedule an appointment, visit zocdoc.com/vaccine. Vaccine appointments are limited to 500 participants, but may be expanded based on community interest.  The Moderna vaccine will be offered through this event. The 340B Drug Pricing Program was enacted by Congress in 1992 with bipartisan support and is overseen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program requires that pharmaceutical companies give safety-net and rural healthcare providers discounts on their drugs, in exchange for having their drugs covered by Medicaid.

Faith-Based Health And Wellness Council Rebrands As The Chris Ramsey Faith-Based Health Council Tuesday, February 23, 2021 Chris Ramsey In partnership with the Southeast Tennessee Health Consortium, Cempa Community Care announced the renaming and rebranding of its minority health council. After launching the group as the “Faith-Based Health and Wellness Council” in January 2019, founding members unanimously agreed this month to update their name and branding to the “Chris Ramsey Faith-Based Health Council.”  The new name honors the life and legacy of founding member Chris Ramsey, who passed away after a long-fought battle with COVID-19 in January 2021.  The Chris Ramsey Faith-Based Health Council seeks to engage churches and faith leaders all across the Chattanooga area in an effort to:
