Isle of Wight Radio has been told a person was spotted in the water and concerns were raised for her welfare. The lifeboat crew also attended the incident. The woman has been left in the care of police. UPDATED A HM Coastguard spokesperson told Isle of Wight Radio:

Trio running marathon on Island for vital causes

FUNDRAISER From left: Maggie Niland, Harry Vernon and Robee Shepherd, of social running group the Ventnor Sloggers, who will be running a marathon from Sandown to Cowes and back for charity on Sunday. A TRIO of Islanders will be slogging it out for two charities close to their heart by running a marathon on Sunday. Harry Vernon, Maggie Niland and Robee Shepherd members of the Ventnor Sloggers social running group will be running 26.2 miles from Sandown to Cowes and back, in aid of the Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat (SSIL) and Ventnor Food Bank. The trio, who already have one charity marathon under their belts, had planned to run a second one, the Portsmouth Marathon until Covid struck.
