South Dakota Pork Producers Council’s President Shane Odegaard thanks the Representatives for their support as Vietnam is an important market for U.S. pork. He says it’s always difficult to overcome tariff and non-tariff trade barriers and having the assistance of the U.S.T.R. is key in working to eliminate those. Odegaard says it was helpful last year when Vietnam reduced its tariff rates from 15 percent to 10 percent for frozen U.S. pork products and he’s hopeful the USTR can build on that in discussions with the Vietnamese.
