THE MAN WHO murdered British backpacker Grace Millane after meeting her on a dating app has also been convicted of two other violent offences against women.
Jesse Shane Kempson, who New Zealand’s Supreme Court ruled can now be named, was convicted of murdering Ms Millane by strangling her in a hotel in Auckland after meeting her via Tinder on 1 December 2018 – the day before her 22nd birthday.

The New Zealand man who callously murdered a British backpacker can finally be named, as it was revealed he had earlier raped another British tourist and had a record of violence towards women.
Jesse Kempson, aged 28, was given a life sentence for strangling Grace Millane in an Auckland hotel room in 2018 and burying her body in a shallow grave west of New Zealand s biggest city.
Kempson enjoyed name suppression during and after the trial and only today was that order was lifted by New Zealand s Supreme Court.

The face on the television was blurred. But, for one woman, that wasn t enough to conceal the identity of the man who killed British backpacker Grace Millane.
Gut instinct told her the man with the obscured face was her abusive former partner - Jesse Shane Kempson, a man she went to police about the day she left him.
Kempson had now taken a life and it was a devastating realisation. My whole world came crashing down around me, she would later tell the Auckland High Court.
