It has been a little difficult, said Righetti High School senior Audrey Herrera. Seniors have lost out on a lot of opportunities, and fun memories that we have been looking forward to senior year and stuff, and so that has been very difficult.

The Santa Maria Joint Union High School District (SMJUHSD) has reopened its campuses for students, starting limited in-class instruction for seniors Tuesday morning. For hundreds of students, it marked the first time many of them had walked on campus in more than a year. I m overwhelmed with happiness, said Pioneer Valley High School senior Sara Camacho. I m shocked that we even got this opportunity to open back again and I m just really excited that I get to see everyone again. It s exciting, said Pioneer Valley senior Liam Haas. It s nice to meet all of my friends and to just be here and to be actually learning things and not looking at a screen.

Share: Pioneer Valley High School students raise donations for families in need during special drive-through event Student leaders at Pioneer Valley High School (PVHS) in Santa Maria organized Holiday Lights, a special drive-through event held on campus on Dec. 12. The event was designed to “give our community a place for the family to see holiday lights and celebrate the season with our PVHS family,” said Lisa Walters, the school’s Panther Activity director, in a press release.
