Shakopee students K-12 will remain in distance learning through at least Jan. 15, according to a recommendation from Shakopee Public Schools pandemic response advisory team. The recommendation comes after Gov. Tim Walz made a series of new announcements this week which include the ability for elementary schools to reopen for in-person instruction next month with no limits on classroom capacity. “This date is the earliest that K-12 students in the IHD Program would return to Hybrid learning, however, a formal date has not been set,” the district posted on its website. - Advertisement - Walz said Wednesday that young children seem to be “less susceptible to serious complications” from COVID-19 and that the state has learned how to reduce the potential for the coronavirus to spread in schools.
