Anti-terrorism unit of police arrested a member of banned militant group Jama atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) yesterday; nearly three years after a Rangpur court sentenced him to death for killing the caretaker of a mazar in 2015.
Abdur Rahman alias Chandu Mia, is a member of the militant group.
He had been hiding in different areas over the years, posing as rickshaw puller and day labourer, Aslam Khan, ATU s superintendent of police, told reporters.
A team of ATU arrested him from Savar area around 7:30pm yesterday, he said during a briefing at ATU headquarters in Baridhara.

Fifty-five percent of guardians interviewed do not feel safe to send their children to schools when they will be reopened, a survey of Citizen s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, said yesterday.
The schools have remained closed due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.
The platform added that 51 percent of guardians consider that their children s schools are not capable enough of maintaining health guidelines.
It carried out the online survey between February 17 and 22, and 1,960 people were respondents of it.
