The presumption must be that in 2021 everything in pop culture, including music, has slowed down. However, having lived through 2020 when the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic had already hit the world, the music industry learned to adapt.
Though Covid-19 is still a reality that has affected live music seriously, vaccines have brought the semblance of a silver lining. Given these abnormal times, major developments took place in the overall music ecosystem.

Frontman of KW & the Facedown Movement and lead guitarist of former prog-rock band Qayaas, Khurram Waqar has launched a venture for the ‘greater good’ of Pakistani musicians.
In these hyper-digitalised times, it is only fair for artists to form online communities instead of affiliating themselves with associations to help boost each other’s work. And amid the pandemic, when aspiring musicians have no one to turn to and live performers, nowhere to go, it only makes sense for the maestros to direct the lost and confused.

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani posted two superintendents of police (SPs) back in the provincial capital, who were ‘expelled’ from the city following ‘conflict’ with the then Lahore Capital City Police Officer Umar Sheikh.
Another SP who was posted in Lahore on the ‘recommendation’ of Mr Sheikh has been transferred to Gujranwala.
In a province-wide reshuffle, the IGP Punjab also transferred and posted an additional inspector general of police and 12 other SPs.
Internal Accountability Branch Additional IG Ghulam Rasool Zahid (BS-21) has been transferred and posted as commandant of the Police College Sihala against a vacant post.
