KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an encounter in Korangi on Thursday as the police foiled a bank robbery. His three accomplices, including one injured, escaped through the back gate of the bank branch which was supposed to distribute Rs15 million to government employees as advance salary on account of Eidul Azha.
Korangi SSP Shahjehan Khan said that four gunmen entered the National Bank of Pakistan, K-Area of Korangi branch at around 9.30am. They snatched the gun from a security guard posted outside the bank. They overpowered another security guard posted inside the bank as they hit him with the butt of a weapon and he fell to the ground. They held the bank staff and customers hostage at gunpoint.

Sixth anniversary of APS tragedy marked

PESHAWAR: Several events were orgnaised on Wednesday across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to pay homage to the martyred students and teachers of the Army Public School.
One hundred and forty seven Students, teachers and staff were martyred in the terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, 2014.
In the provincial capital, a contingent of the army presented a salute to the memorial of martyrs early in the day. The main event was held at the Shuhada-e-APS Public library, which was attended by parents. The speakers on the occasion condemned the brutal act.

MANSEHRA: Seminars and programmes were held across upper parts of Hazara on Wednesday to pay homage to students and teachers who were martyred in a terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16. 2014. The ceremonies were held in Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Mansehra and Torghar districts to mark the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attack.
A seminar was organised at the deputy commissioner office in Lower Kohistan. Speaking on occasion, Deputy Commissioner Khalid Khan, former MPA and leader of JUI-F Maulana Dildar and district Khatteb Maulana Kareemdad paid tribute to the students and their teachers who bravely stood against terrorists.
