BADIN: The polling on the Sindh Assembly’s constituency PS-70 Matli (BADIN II) seat has ended and the vote count is currently underway, ARY News reported on Thursday.
The voting started at 8:00 am and continued till 5:00 pm without any break to elect a representative of the constituency in the provincial legislature.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results of four polling stations, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Bashir Ahmed Halepoto is leading with 387 votes. JUI’s Maulana Gul Hassan is behind with 104 votes.
The seat was fallen vacant due to the death of the Pakistan People’s Party’s Bashir Ahmed Halepoto. The People’s Party has awarded a party ticket for the by-election to Ahmad Abdullah Halepoto.

BADIN: PPP candidate Dada Mohammad Halepoto is considered to be in a firm position in the by-polls for PS-70, Matli, being held on Thursday against his rivals.
Political pundits keeping an eye on the politics of Badin district talking to this reporter said that PPP’s candidate was all set to beat his rivals by securing enough votes during by-elections. They observed the delayed ‘retirement’ of GDA’s Shahid Virk favoring JUIF’s Moulana Gul Hassan Zaur might not create any problems for Mr. Halepoto to retain the seat for the party, which had never lost the elections in any previous elections from the constituency.

ISLAMABAD: The parties constitute Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will support Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) candidate Shahid Virk against Pakistan People s Party (PPP) candidate Dada Ahmad Abdullah Halepoto in bye elections for Sindh Assembly seat PS-70 Badin-1 (Matali) where the polling will take place on 20th May.
The seat was fallen vacant due to the death of Dada Abdullah’s father PPP member Bashir Ahmad Halepoto on 24th March this year. It will be last bye polls of the current series which were started by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after lapse of about one year. The commission stalled the holding of bye elections due to corona pandemic.
