SRINAGAR, Dec 18: Two days after police took the custody of two detainees from Srinagar’s Central Jail after their names surfaced in the assassination of advocate Babar Qadri on basis of the alleged disclosures of the three persons already arrested by the police from Srinagar, the family members of two of the latter have maintained that “they are innocent”. They said they have been falsely implicated and tortured during detention.
Police on Thursday said that it arrested five persons including two detenues in connection with the murder of Qadri. Earlier reports, quoting unnamed police sources said that that police have taken the custody of two detainees from the Central Jail Srinagar in connection with Babar Qadri assassination case (FIR no. 62/2020 u/s 302 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act and 16/18 UAPA) regis
SRINAGAR: The family members of two of the Srinagar trio who have been arrested in connection with the murder of Advocate Babar Qadri Friday vouched for their innocence. They said they have been falsely implicated and tortured.
The family members who emerged in Press Enclave Srinagar told that Zahid and Asif have been falsely implicated.
Pertinently, police have arrested Srinagar trio in connection with the murder of Advocate Babar Qadri. They have been identified as Asif Bhat of Rehmania Colony Srinagar, Shahid Mir of Khanyar Srinagar and Zahid Khan, a resident of Nowhatta Srinagar.
The family members of Asif and Zahid told Reporters that police didn’t arrest them as is being claimed but when police were looking for them, they themselves presented them before the police.
