Punjab Lifts Coronavirus Night Curfew in View of Christmas, Shaheedi Jor Mela

The Punjab government lifted the coronavirus curfew for Thursday night in view of the Christmas celebrations. The government had impose the night curfew in the state to check the spread of coronavirus earlier this month. In a tweet, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said the curfew will be lifted on Thursday night to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Christmas. He further said the night curfew will be lifted from December 25 to 27 in Fatehgarh Sahib in view of the Shaheedi Jor Mela. Shaheedi Jor Mela is held every year to mark the martyrdom of two sons of the 10th Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh.

Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Thursday announced the lifting of night curfew in the state for the occasion of Christmas and the Shaheedi Jor Mela. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said there will be no night curfew tonight for Christmas celebrations. Further, night curfew is being withdrawn from Fatehgarh Sahib from December 25 to 27 night for Shahidi Sabha.
“We will be lifting night curfew to celebrate the occasion of Christmas and to commemorate the Shaheedi Jor Mela. For Christmas, night curfew will be removed for tonight. For Shahidi Sabha, night curfew will be removed in Fatehgarh Sahib from Dec 25th to 27th night,” the Punjab CM was quoted as saying by
