Covid claims eight more lives, infects 1,201 others

The novel coronavirus claimed eight more lives in Sindh during the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 5,621 from the infectious disease and showing a fatality rate of 1.6 per cent.
As many as 16,262 tests were conducted and 1,201 were tested positive, with the deduction rate standing at 7.4 per cent, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in his Covid-19 situation report on Tuesday.
So far 4,710,523 tests had been conducted against which 349,569 cases were diagnosed with the virus. Of them 91 per cent or 318,376 patients had recovered, including 535 overnight.
The CM said 25,572 patients were under treatment 24,671 in home isolation, 837 at different hospitals and 64 patients in isolation centres and 61 on ventilators.
